Music is in our soul
Music is the soul of Memphis: Birthplace of Rock’n’Roll and Blues; Home of Sun Records, Gibson Guitars and Stax Records…and Elvis. For more than 150 years, the rhythms of Memphis musicians have spilled from clubs and bars out onto historic Beale Street, which forms the cultural backbone of our city. Only such a music-minded metropolis could have given rise to EgglestonWorks.
Art, Music and Craftsmanship
More than a quarter-century ago, a group of obsessed craftsmen started building artistically designed, one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture for collectors. Perhaps inevitably, their love of art and music inspired the company to create loudspeakers, which combined the highest possible audio performance with unrivalled aesthetic beauty. In 1997, EgglestonWorks introduced the Andra, which was immediately embraced by recording engineers and music lovers around the world and praised as one of the finest speakers ever produced. So impressive was Andra that it appeared on the cover of prestigious Stereophile magazine TWICE in three months and won that publication’s “Loudspeaker of the Year” award
Our Sound
Since the beginning, the underlying goal of all EgglestonWorks loudspeakers is to strike a powerful, emotional chord naturally present in live music. It is to recreate the palpable realism of a live performance complete and authentic to the most miniscule details.
To be successful, we must achieve the two most critical goals: accuracy and musicality.
Accuracy
Of course, the job of any fine speaker is to correctly reproduce the music passing through it. At EgglestonWorks, this is only the beginning: we strive to provide a more instinctive connection to the music, delivering deeper insight into recordings the listener might have heard hundreds of times.
Accomplishing this goal requires a speaker that embodies vanishingly low distortion, vast frequency- and dynamic range and unimpeded resolution.
Musicality
It’s the ability to enjoy listening free of fatigue, to share a recording’s finest details without compromising long-term listening pleasure. Though fatigue can be caused by something measureable like distortion, it’s often the result of improper component matching, poor technical decisions or other design related issues that are hard to measure.
We Are Unique
Our expertise is derived from our philosophy. EgglestonWorks speakers perfectly balance resolution on one hand and long-term enjoyment on the other. Both professionals and music enthusiasts alike appreciate the ability to hear deeper into recordings without fatigue.
Science in Service of Music
We insist upon superb measured performance. All of our products are engineered to achieve superb results in the lab and listening room by a Ph.D physicist driven by a love of music and informed by an expertise in sound.
Artisanal Excellence at every level
Our product catalog spans a surprisingly broad price spectrum, yet every model is built in our Memphis Tennessee factory to impeccable standards of craftsmanship and quality.
Inner Beauty
Countless fine details – many hidden from view – distinguish our craftsmanship from other loudspeakers. Specially carved bracing, meticulously wired point to point crossovers, and the flawless engraving of our discretely placed logo exemplify our pride and inspire yours.
Beauty for your ears and eyes
We believe that good sound is necessary but not sufficient to make a loudspeaker exceptional. Chances are, your speakers reside in your living room, den, or other high profile location in your home. We think your speakers should communicate the same sense of style and artistic beauty as the rest of your decor.
Let us customize your speakers.
Every order is built by hand and finished to order. While we do have a palette of traditional colors, one benefit of building every speaker by hand is the ability to create the custom finish of your dreams. Share your imagination with us so we can build the speakers of your dreams.
EgglestonWorks in Studio
Many of your favorite records were recorded, mixed and mastered using EgglestonWorks loudspeakers
From the beginning, EgglestonWorks has been shaped by the demands of the mastering room. In the late 1990s, Bob Ludwig of Gateway Mastering — one of the most awarded and influential mastering engineers in modern music — brought a pair of our original Andras into one of his rooms for evaluating DVD projects. He quickly fell in love with their honesty and musicality, but he needed a physically larger and more capable loudspeaker for Gateway’s main stereo mastering suite. That experience led him to commission what ultimately became the Ivy, a purpose-built monitor designed with his input and adopted as Gateway’s primary reference.
Mastering Generations of Hit Records
Ludwig wasn’t just respected; he was the go-to mastering engineer for many of the world’s biggest artists across rock, pop, classical, jazz, and beyond — Springsteen, Radiohead, Tool, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Nirvana, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Paul Simon, and many more. And chances are, if you own twenty albums you love, Bob — and by extension, EgglestonWorks — helped shape the sound of at least a few of them.
That lineage continues today with engineers like Colin Leonard of SING Mastering in Atlanta. Leonard, a multi-Grammy-winning engineer whose credits include Beyoncé, Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, and Paul McCartney, works in genres where precision and translation are absolutely unforgiving. Songs he has mastered have accumulated well over 400–500 billion streams. His decision to rely on EgglestonWorks reflects the same core reason Bob Ludwig did decades earlier: the combination of truthfulness, musicality, and complete day-long listenability.
Critical Responsibility
For most listeners, the role of a mastering engineer is almost invisible, but it is one of the most demanding jobs in the audio chain. After the mix is complete, the mastering engineer becomes the final set of expert ears before the music reaches the world. They adjust tonal balance, tighten dynamics, match levels across an album, ensure compatibility across formats, catch technical flaws, and shape the overall emotional impact of a track. Their decisions determine how music translates everywhere—from earbuds and cars to clubs, theaters, vinyl, streaming platforms, and, of course, home loudspeakers.
Because of this responsibility, the loudspeakers they choose must do two things at once: reveal every micro-detail with absolute honesty, yet remain fatigue-free over ten- or twelve-hour sessions. Too analytical, and listening becomes punishing; too flattering, and the decisions become unreliable.
Connecting The Studio To Home
And this is where the connection to the home listener becomes clear. The same qualities that make a speaker indispensable to a mastering engineer—clarity without harshness, accuracy without sterility, the ability to disappear and let the music speak—are exactly what elevate listening in a living room. You don’t need to be an engineer to benefit from a tool built for that level of trust. When a speaker helps an artist’s vision translate to millions of listeners around the world, it will also reveal that same intention, nuance, and emotion in your home. The mastery they rely on becomes the experience you get to enjoy, every time you press play.
EgglestonWorks makes that possible.
